Advertiser Disclosure
Full transparency on how Candid Yak earns revenue and maintains editorial independence.
Candid Yak is free to use. We make money through partnerships with insurance companies, solar installers, lenders, and other service providers. This page explains exactly how that works and why it doesn't compromise our editorial independence.
01 How Candid Yak Makes Money
Our primary revenue comes from affiliate commissions and referral fees. When you click on a quote or complete an application through Candid Yak, we earn a commission from the provider. This commission structure is standard in the comparison and lead generation industry.
Commission-generating actions include requesting quotes for auto insurance, home insurance, or other products; completing applications for loans, credit cards, or financial services; getting solar installation quotes from qualified installers; and signing up for educational or financial services.
Commission rates vary by partner and product type. Higher-commission products do not receive preferential treatment in our rankings or recommendations.
02 How Advertising Affects Rankings
Commission payments do not affect how we rank companies or what products we recommend. Our rankings are based on customer reviews and ratings, product features and coverage options, pricing and value, customer service quality, industry awards, and our internal expert analysis.
A company can have a lower commission rate and still rank first if it offers better coverage, lower prices, or superior customer service. Our editorial team makes ranking decisions independently of the sales team.
03 Editorial Independence
Separation of Editorial and Sales
Our editorial team (writers, researchers, and editors) operates independently from our sales and partnerships teams. Editorial staff evaluate companies and products on merit alone, disclose all conflicts of interest transparently, and avoid giving preferential treatment based on commission rates.
Conflict-of-Interest Policies
All Candid Yak employees must disclose any financial interests in companies we cover, recuse themselves from content decisions when conflicts exist, and report any pressure to bias coverage in favor of high-commission partners.
Verification and Fact-Checking
All major claims in our content are verified through original research and analysis, official company statements and filings, third-party data and studies, and expert interviews and consultation.
04 Transparency in Our Content
To maintain trust, we clearly identify sponsored content (always labeled "Sponsored" or "Advertisement"), affiliate links (where we earn commission), author credentials and expertise areas, and advertiser relationships with companies we review.
05 User Control & Privacy
We give users control over how their data is used. You choose which companies can contact you about quotes or offers. You can opt out of any provider or type of communication. Your data is never sold without your permission. You can delete your profile and request data removal at any time.
06 Complaints & Feedback
If you believe we've violated our editorial standards or failed to disclose a conflict of interest, please contact us. You can also reach our Editorial Ombudsman directly at [email protected] or call (800) 555-1234.
This policy may be updated from time to time. The most recent version will always be available on this page.
